A coalition of individuals and businesses that oppose passage of the Patent Reform Act of 2009 because it will so negatively impact innovation and entrepreneurial activity in Nevada.

The Issue.

For more than 100 years, the federal law in the United States has protected the small inventor. The great men and women who worked in their garages, kitchens and workshops to develop the next "big idea."

Senate Bill 515 and House Resolution 1260 would erode more than a century of law and traditions protecting the rights of inventors. Write a Letter

Nevada Patent Owners Statement On Proposed Patent Bill

Nevadans for Fair Patent Reform (NFPR) appreciate Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s concern and efforts to ensure that any changes in U.S. patent law are fair and equitable to the many inventors, entrepreneurs and businesses of Nevada, both large and small.
Over the past five months, NFPR has worked with Senator Reid and his staff, the USPTO and others to make sure that possible changes in U.S. patent law do not stifle the ingenuity that is the engine of the American economy and its ability to create more and better jobs. In the future, as in the past, we firmly believe that much needed new jobs, new investment and economic growth will come primarily from new ideas fostered in the minds of the individual inventor and entrepreneur. We believe the USPTO needs additional resources and we support the Obama Administration’s request for supplemental funds for the Patent Office, which will enable it to reduce the tremendous backlog of pending patent applications.
The present version of the Patent Reform Act of 2009 (S. 515) continues to have deep flaws that would adversely affect Nevada inventors, entrepreneurs and small business owners. We deeply appreciate Senator Reid’s continuing efforts to ensure that the sponsors of this legislation fix those flaws before the U.S. Senate considers the bill.
Nevadans for Fair Patent Reform, (www.fairpatentreformnv.com) is a coalition made up of the state’s top entrepreneurs, innovators and attorneys from top intellectual property businesses and law firms in the Silver State.
